Why Thiago Silva would be perfect for Chelsea next season

Why Thiago Silva would be perfect for Chelsea next season As the majority of Chelsea fans may already know, Thiago Silva has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge. It was announced that Silva will be leaving PSG at the end of the summer but expressing his desire to stay in Europe. I have already seen a mixture of opinions on Twitter, debating whether we should go for him or not, but I personally believe he is exactly what Frank Lampard needs.  The first problem fans may have with Silva joining Chelsea, who turns 36 in September, is his age. Legendary club centre backs, John Terry and Marcel Desailly, both left the club at a similar age to what Silva is now - so why would Chelsea bring in an ageing defender when they had previously let others at that age go too? The difference is that there was a clear decline in quality from both Terry and Desailly. Terry didn't suit Antonio Conte's three at the back system because of his lack of pace and Mourinho had let Desailly

Why Lampard's Chelsea will be the "little horses" again next season

Why Lampard's Chelsea will be the "little horses" again next season Back in 2014, Jose Mourinho came out with one of his most Mourinho lines, stating Chelsea were the "little horses" of the 13/14 title race and I have a feeling this coming season will be the same.  Lampard should learn from Mourinho's little horses. Mourinho added it was not Chelsea's "objective" to win the league, adding: "Our objective is to build the team. I want to start the next pre-season and say this season we are going to win the league. This season, I can't." In the 13/14 season, it was clear Chelsea were a few players short of dominating. We had a solid foundation at the back with experienced players but no threat going forward. This year is the same but the opposite - signings of Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, and possibly now Kai Havertz, makes our threat going forward look incredibly dangerous but we are yet to form a stable backline.  If Frank Lampard w

Has Frank Lampard recieved the credit he truly deserves this season?

Has Frank Lampard received the credit he truly deserves this season? Chelsea fans everywhere knew what a tough season ahead it would be. With the loss of their greatest ever player, Eden Hazard, a transfer ban and losing manager, Maurizio Sarri, to Juventus. It's fair to say morale was low at Stamford Bridge. The Chelsea board knew they had to restore the passion in the club. Fans were split about Chelsea's style of play, with half the fans calling Sarri out and the rest wanting him to stay.  The appointment of Frank Lampard changed everything. A promise of academy players to be injected into the squad, something the previous Chelsea manager lacked at doing. Callum Hudson - Odoi and Ruben Loftus -Cheek were stand out players for Chelsea last season but due to their age, Sarri favored a more experienced lineup.  It took the perfect storm for Chelsea to finally accept their youth products with Lampard introducing 12 new academy graduates to the first team. As soon as Lampard arri

Mathew Harding: A true blue

Matthew Harding: A True Blue Being boring in the year 2000, I have only ever seen Chelsea under the Roman Abramovic era. I never experienced the hard times of the "Help! Save the Bridge Campaign" or suffered the 26-year trophy drought between the '70s and the late '90s. I have been a very privileged Chelsea fan. I have seen my club win everything there is to win in football but as I look back at our history, there is one man who made this all possible. Matthew Harding.  As a young fan, I never saw what Matthew Harding brought to Chelsea Football Club. Only until my early teens did it cross my mind as to why one of our stands is named "The Matthew Harding Stand". After researching to find out more, it left me compelled to tell the younger Chelsea generation how this man saved our club.  Matthew Harding was born in Hayward Heath, Essex in 1953. Earning his vast amount of wealth through the insurance industry, Harding responded to the then Chelsea owner, Ken Ba

The pros and cons of Willian leaving Chelsea

The pros and cons of Willian leaving Chelsea Willian is on the verge of switching from West London to Arsenal at the end of his contract with Chelsea. A deal that is sparking huge debate between both sets of fans.  Chelsea has offered Willian, who turns 32 on Sunday, a two-year extension but is holding out for three years. Arsenal has rumored to of offered the Brazilian what he wants and is likely to join shortly after Chelsea's Champions League match on Saturday.  What I am most happy about, from Chelsea's point of view, is that we have tried to keep him at the club. I think Willian would have been a vital player to keep hold of. He has a level of experience at the highest degree, he has never had a long term injury in his career and has played over 40 games in each season for Chelsea since he arrived in 2013.  This season, he has arguably been Chelsea's best player. Topping the charts with the most assists at the club and being our second highest goal scorer. Not to menti

If Gary Cahill was still a Chelsea defender, he would be Lampard's first name on the team sheet

If Gary Cahill was still a Chelsea defender, he would be Lampard's first name on the team sheet Chelsea's leakage of goals has been Frank Lampard's biggest problem all season. For Lampard to still be mixing up his backline with two games to go just shows how untrustworthy our current defenders are. Conceding a Chelsea Premier League high of 49 goals, it is clear this is not good enough for a side attempting to get compete with Europe's elite. Rudiger allowing Yarmolenko to cut in for Chelsea's 3-2 defeat to West Ham  Antonio Rudiger was bought to help replace John Terry in 2017 but has never stepped up to the plate of taking responsibility to lead that defense. This season is a clear example of why Rudiger is not good enough. If we compare him to former Chelsea and now Bournemouth defender, Nathan Ake, it's clear why this is. Baring in mind that Ake is in a relegation battle, it's quite a remarkable difference stats wise. Ake has made fewer err

Chelsea fans must look at the bigger picture when it come to Tariq Lamptey

Chelsea fans must look at the bigger picture when it comes to Tariq Lamptey Tariq Lamptey was Frank Lampard's eighth academy graduate to make their professional debut alongside Mason Mount, Fikayo Tomori, Reece James, Billy Gilmour, Marc Guehi, Ian Maatsen, and Tino Anjorin. Willing to commit their future to Chelsea, Tariq Lamptey had other plans to further his career. Chelsea celebrating their 2-1 win over Arsenal at the Emirates  Lamptey made his debut, coming off the bench at the Emirates, to help inspire a 2-1 win over Arsenal in late December. Frank Lampard and Jody Morris had hoped by parachuting him into such a huge fixture, it would convince the teenager to agree on his future with the London Club. But Lamptey could see through that.  We don't know but it's clear Lamptey demanded first-team football but with the likes of Captain, Cesar Azpilicueta, and fellow graduate, Reece James, ahead in the pecking order. It was obvious the chances of getting a
