Why Batshuayi MUST start against Norwich this Saturday

Batshuayi playing against Liverpool U23's on Monday Night

There is no doubt in my mind, after watching the first three games of Chelsea's season, that we need a striker with fresh ideas and someone to make a name for himself. I believe that Michy Batshuayi is by far the perfect candidate to lead the line for Chelsea and here's the reasons why.

Why does he deserves his chance?

Since Michy joined, he has been involved in some pretty big moments of games for Chelsea that maybe you don't quite remember.

Let's start from the beginning- In his debut for Chelsea, he already had a major impact by assisting Diego Costa's last minute winner against West Ham with a powerful headed flick on. 5 days later, Chelsea go 1 - 0 down to Watford away with 23 minuets left on the clock. Batshuayi is brought on and not only does he equalise the scoreline in the 80th minute but inspires Chelsea to a  2 - 1 victory whilst also grabbing himself Man of The Match in just 20 minutes.

And if you Chelsea fans can remember, Michy is already engraved in a big part of our history. On May 12th 2017, Chelsea needed 3 more points to win the title with 10 minutes of the game remaining. But who is the player to step up and clinch us our FIFTH Premier League title? Michy Batshuayi. This man has literally won us a Premier League title and yet he still hasn't been given the run of matches he deserves. Batshuayi finished the season with 5 Premier League goals in just 236 minutes of play. That's a goal every 47 minutes if you didn't know.

Why should he get ahead of Abraham or Giroud?

As much as I adore Tammy Abraham and how I want him to do well for Chelsea, he's clearly not ready. I think this chance has come way to early for him and another year on loan at Villa would of been best for his development. I love that he had the confidence to take that final penalty against Liverpool in the shoot-out where lots of players could easily of hid away! But I think the games he's featured in shows maybe he is still a Championship tier player.

For Giroud, I don't think he quite fit's Lampard's style of play. Lampard prefer's a team with energy that can close the ball down quickly and keep pressure on the opposing team. I don't think Giroud's stamina can last the majority of the match, I don't think he is quick enough to make those runs between the lines and is overall pretty heavy. But undeniably his hold up and link up play with other players around him is special, which is why I feel he would be more suitable as a super-sub rather than a starter.

Will he succeed if given the chance?

In my opinion, yes I do. He's shown for Chelsea that he can be a impact sub off the bench and he has also shown that he can score when starting. In his first ever start for Chelsea, he netted two goals and scored a hatrick against Nottingham Forest in 2017.

I feel that if you put faith into Michy, he will deliver. When he was at Borussia Dortmund, he played 10 straight games (playing the full 90 in all of them) and scored 7 times with 1 assist before missing the final four games through injury.

I think that Batshuayi and Pulisic previously playing together at Dortmund can work into Chelsea's favour seeming as they both know how one another want's to play and I feel like it will help Pulisic settle into the Premier League easier.

Will Batshuayi be confident enough?

I think this recent Tweet tells you all you need to know about how The Batsman is feeling!

He silenced rumours about leaving Chelsea this summer with reports understanding he is confident enough to stay and fight for his place!

He played in the Premier League for the last part of the season at Crystal Palace, netting 6 goals in 13 appearances which at Palace's level is pretty decent.

My personal opinion is that he is ready to lead the way. I just sure hope Frank gives him the opportunity of a good run of games to allow him to express himself.
